Capstone Academy was born out of our desire to educate our boys, Weston, Jackson, and Gibson in the most God Glorifying way we could.  Through much prayer and initial worry ( yes we were worried if it would work out ) the decision was made to become Homeschoolers.

There are many curriculums that can, and are, worth looking into.  The one we eventually chose to use was My Father's World, which, from the title the focus should be self-evident.

There really were several factors that fed into our decision, but two that seemed to come to the forefront were our desire to educate our children with a Biblical foundation and the boys' temperaments.

Deuteronomy 6:

6 These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

It is the family's duty, responsibility, and God-given right to train up their children when they are young in the instruction of the Lord ( Ephesians 6:4, Proverbs 22:6 ).  We, as Husband and Wife and Parents, did not feel that sending our boys to an often Godless secular environment for eight or more hours a day was  the best way to do this.

This is not a self-righteous statement or one aimed at elevating ourselves above those who have chosen otherwise, but it is best for our family.  Mindy, in an article over at Stapleton Shenanigans wrote about Why Homeschool?
